Brooke Henderson (Canada) won the opening match of the 2023 season of the LPGA Tour.
Henderson shot a 2 under par 70 with 3 birdies and 1 bogey in the 4th round on the final day of the LPGA Tour Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions held at the Lake Nona Golf & Country Club in Orlando, Florida on the 23rd. Henderson, who recorded a final total of 16 under par 272 strokes, beat Maya Stark (Sweden) and Charlie Hull 먹튀검증 (England), who were tied for second place, by four strokes. Henderson succeeded in winning again six months after the Evian Championship, a major tournament in July of last year, and achieved his 13th victory in his tour career.
Henderson, who took the lead by three strokes until the third round, won the wire-to-wire championship without missing the first place for all four days of this tournament. He started the 2023 season in a good mood by winning at once with a TaylorMade club and a ball instead of the ping he had been using for a long time from this season.
This tournament, which is the season opener, can only feature tour winners over the past two years, and 29 players participated in this year’s event. No Korean players appeared, and last year’s winner, Daniel Kang (USA), a Korean player, finished the tournament tied for 12th place with a 4-under par of 284 strokes.
The tournament was held in a pro-am format in which pros and celebrities played together, and Mardi Fish (USA), a former tennis player, won the celebrity rankings with 152 points. Fish reached the top for the second time in this competition after 2021. Celebrity rankings are compiled using a modified Stableford method that converts each hole into a score. US major league player Mark Mulder (USA) came second with 136 points, and retired “golf empress” Annika Sorenstam (Sweden) ranked third with 133 points.
